Deutsche Grammophon announce the signing of Katia & Marielle Labèque and their label KML Recordings

Deutsche Grammophon France is honoured to announce the signing of the 4 most famous French hands in the world and their record label KML Recordings.

Renowned both for the energy and the fusion of their duo, Katia and Marielle Labèque have shaken the world of classical music for more than 35 years. Their 1980 record of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Bluewas celebrated worldwide and opened them the gates to an international career. They since perform in the world’s most prestigious concert halls through programs tinged with avant-gardism and great originality, ranging from baroque to contemporary music.

After a ten years long break in their recording career, the Labèque sisters founded their own label KML Recordings in 2007 to produce personal and innovative, yet grand public albums. Today, a new page of their musicianship opens through their collaboration with the yellow label.

“We founded KML Recordings about ten years ago to carry our projects and to feel free with our discographic creations”, state Katia and MarielleLabèque. “We are now happy and proud that this work bears fruits and that it is acknowledged by historical label Deutsche Grammophon’s tremendous team we are joining.”

Edouard Brane, Artistic Director of Deutsche Grammophon France declares: “Deutsche Grammophon is particularly proud to welcome these two iconic artists for future projects perfectly adequate to their artistry, in-between classicism and contemporaneity.”

Their new record with Deutsche Grammophon dedicated to works by Stravinsky and Debussy will be released in November 2016. They’ll interpret a part of its program on 15th January 2017 at the Auditorium de Radio France.

Until then, a 2 CDs re-edition of their album "MINIMALIST DREAM HOUSE" and a new release of "LOVE STORIES" will follow their concert at the Philharmonie de Paris on the 25th of next September. In early November 2016, publisher Buchet-Castel will release an interview book titled “Une vie a quatre mains” (A Four Hands Life) directed by Renaud Machart. Deutsche Grammophon will complement this publication with a 6 CDs boxset gathering Labèque sisters’ main records with KML Recordings.
