Katia and Marielle made this recording in collaboration with the Rainforest Foundation, founded by Sting and Trudie Styler. All the artists´ royalties for the CD have been donated to aid the work of the foundation. The aim of the Rainforest Foundation is to protect the homelands of under-represented peoples and societies, trying to protect the people and the animals of the rainforests.

Apart from the Carnival with Katia & Marielle and their friends, the recording features recorded tracks from many leading Pop and World music artists such as Shawn Colvin, Elton John, Annie Lennox, Madonna, Bette Midler, Luciano Pavarotti, Paul Simon, Sting & Jimmy Nail, James Taylor, Tina Turner, Rubén Blades, The Chieftains, Johnny Clegg, Sharon Katz & The peace train, Geoffrey Oryema and Zucchero.
